Obituary

Born in Nebraska, son of Alexander Rakisits, Sr. a WWII vet and feisty Nebraska farm girl, Mildred Fern Rice; but raised in southern California, Alexander Rakisits, Jr. enjoyed fast cars, surfing, football, music, dancing as a teenager, and was all around a mischievous and fun-loving man.

Alex joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a 17-year-old and went on a mission at 19, with the intention of building his deep-rooted faith in Christ and spreading the word of love. Soon after he moved to Utah for college, became a knowledgeable construction manager, married, and had five kids, eventually moving them to Texas. There, he continued his education at Texas A&M University and career as a master builder, with his talent and deep understanding of the trade he so loved.

Alex was an extremely hard worker. He never faltered when it came to caring for his family and loved ones. He taught them to find joy in their daily tasks and work. He enjoyed the responsibility of feeding his family great meals, and extended his kindness and love by showing the door was always open to friends through BBQ's and parties. Alex often pretended not to be an animal lover, yet never said no to a stray or hurt animal in need of a warm and welcoming home or care. His love of being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather presented daily; there was never a task he wasn't willing to help with, and he taught all he knew. Alex was always proud of his children and grandchildren when they reached their goals and pushed through life and its challenges with courage and grace just as he had taught.

Alex's love will continue to flow through his two sisters: Margy Andrew and Suzy Ball; children: Kimberly Watts, Jennie Gallegos, A. Jared Rakisits, Joshua Rakisits and Signe Comfort; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and loved ones as he holds the door open from above.
