Alexander Grant Shirley St. George, UT - Alex Shirley passed away on Sunday, March 28 in St. George. He leaves behind a grieving family that includes his Mom Tami Stevenson; Dad Tom Shirley; older Brother Micah; and Sister Katie. Alex was loved and will be missed by so many people, including Grandma Nada Stevenson and Grandma Nina Anderson, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. Alex was born in Salt Lake City on May 1, 1989, he spent his early years living and playing along the Weber River near Oakley with his best friends - Micah and Katie. This was a wonderful place for his Dad and Mom to teach Alex about loving and sharing the great outdoors with his brother and sister. Alex enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseback riding with both family and friends. Alex and Micah had great adventures in Weber Canyon - they were best buddies; Alex loved every minute of this time. Alex loved his little sister Katie very much. He was her great protector and friend. Alex's sense of humor is famous and became apparent at a very early age, his family still laughs at his one liners, that started as soon as he could talk. Alex attended school, Kindergarten into high school, in Kamas, where he loved rodeo (he wanted to be a bull rider), little league football, basketball and riding his horse Duke. As he became a teenager, he fell in love with snowboarding and became an accomplished boarder in a very short time. When Alex was 17 years old he moved to St. George, attending high school there. The first time Alex picked up a spray gun, his gift for painting cars was established, and thankfully he was able to turn his passion and gift into a career. He was very proud that he was selected as the first painter at Dixie Auto Body - and in fact the entire state of Utah - to be trained to paint with water based paints. He painted everything from full cars, trucks and motorcycles. Alex shared and created many wonderful memories that honor his name and time in this life. We all love and miss you Big Al.
