IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice Ann
Seal Gambee
July 8, 1918 – August 6, 2011
St. George, Utah - Our beloved Mother, Step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor, Alice Ann Seal Gambee returned home to her Heavenly Father Saturday, August 6, 2011.
Alice was born an only child to George and Violetta Horner in Cody, Wyoming on July 8, 1918. After moving with her parents to Medford, Oregon, she graduated from high school there in 1936.
Alice attended Business College in Long Beach, California where she met and married "The Mississippi Kid", Joe Seal, in 1937. Together they were the parents of three sons: Ron Emmett Seal, Kenneth Lee Seal and James Delmar Seal. Alice and Joe moved with their young family to Picayune, Mississippi where they lived for two years, then moved back to California.
After her first husband passed away in 1973, Alice married George A. Gambee on April 12, 1974. After they retired, Alice and George moved to St. George, Utah in 1980, where they were introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Due to the example and friendship of loving neighbors, they joined the church in September 1981.
Although she had never been to an LDS Primary as a child, she served in the Presidency of the organization at the age of 75, where she was loved by all of the children who sat at her feet., listening to stories about Jesus. Her faith in our Savior and her perfect love for Him strengthened the testimonies of many children as they looked to her for council and guidance. Her influence will be felt for generations to come, as many of those young children now have families of their own.
After her husband, George, suffered a stroke, and Alice was no longer able to care for him in their home, those same loving friends and neighbors took her to Kolob Care Center and back home again every day for 91/2 months. She appreciated that unselfish love and Christ-like service so much. George passed away December 26, 2007. Family members advised Alice to move so she could be closer to them, but she didnt want to leave her dear friends and neighbors. In this place she has always felt safe and loved.
Thank you to Bloomington 2 nd Ward for providing such tender care to Sister Gambee. She loved you so much and was so grateful for your constant care, complete with trips to her favorite restaurants, grocery shopping, doctors appointments, hair styling and for the friendly visits and occasional plates of food. You are the reason she wanted to remain at her home in St. George. Thank You. Sister Gambee has joined her parents and loved ones now and will be missed by all who have been blessed to know and love her, but she will never be forgotten.
Alice is survived by her children: Ronald Seal of La Mirada, CA; Kenneth Seal of MO; and James Seal of Antioch, TN.
