Alice Wiggins

St. George, Utah – Alice Helene Barney was born March 23, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Burnes Tebbs Barney and Frances Elizabeth Bertz, the youngest of four children. She married Edward Eugene Wiggins on March 30, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She graduated from Hammond High School, Hammond, Indiana. Alice was a stay-at-home mom for many years, entering the workforce when the youngest child started school. She retired from the State of Utah, Department of Social Services after twenty years of service.

Alice was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including teacher and secretary in the Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society. She spent many years doing genealogy research, family history and temple work. She especially enjoyed traveling to many temple and historical church sites as a part of her research. She loved serving in the Ogden and St. George Temples for many years.

Alice is survived by children: Maryann (Lee) Stevens of Provo; Robert (Jan) Wiggins of Ivins; Nancy (Craig) Richards of Cedar City; Patricia Tracy of South Ogden; James (Kay) Wiggins; David (Julie) of Hurricane; Scott (Kristi) of Roosevelt; 22 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her siblings: Frances Ellen Lauper, George Burnes Barney and Joseph Alma Barney. Also preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, a grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to give a special thanks for the loving care Alice received while at her new home of Sterling Court.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Primary Children's Medical Center, the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund or the Huntsman's Cancer Research Foundation.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. George City Cemetery located at 600 East Tabernacle, where Alice will be placed next to her eternal companion.
