Obituary

St. George, Utah - Alina Putnam Smith, wife, mother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who was beloved by all, died of natural causes May 27, 2016 in St. George, UT. Alina was born in Salt Lake City, UT June 8, 1932 to Edger Richard Putnam and Hazel Fitt Putnam. She married Hyrum Manfred Smith on April 3, 1953 in Salinas, California.
She had a great love for music and was a choir conductor and chorister for many years. She sang with the Kearns North Stake Singing Mothers, and the Schubert Singers. She got an associate degree from Salt Lake Community College and worked as a medical transcriptionist. She had a passion for genealogy, and she was a temple worker for 20 years. She had a ready smile and made people laugh.

Alina is survived by her children: Deborah (Thomas) Hill and Stanlee (Patti) Smith; 11 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Marvin, Ruth, Gordon, Harvey, Donna, Naomi, Norma, and Lois; and grandchildren: Cody, Todd and Maggie.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Memorial Deseret Mortuary,36 East 700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Visitations will be held, Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Memorial Deseret Mortuary, prior to service. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery
