St. George, UT - Allice S. Thompson, age 98, passed away on September 10, 2011. She was born on February 19, 1913 in Pomona, California to James Wyly Saunders and Nina Anna Saunders. She was an only child. She married Noll Gray Thompson on February 10, 1946 and was happily married for 64 years before her loving husband passed away in 2010.

Allice grew up in California and enjoyed school, camping and fishing with her parents. She was a past Matron of the Eastern Star and a life member of the Whittier Star Chapter 144.

Allice was highly educated. She received her Masters degree from UCLA in 1936 and eventually received her degree in Child Psychology. She was awarded a "Life Diploma" from the State of California that authorized her to "teach in any public junior college in the state". She worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 35 years. Her last position was Area Coordinator for Psychological Services. She retired in 1974.

She was a veteran of the US Navy. Allice enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and accepted an appointment as Ensign. She was later promoted to Lieutenant (jg) and served as Assistant Aerological Officer in Alameda, Ca. Allice received an Honorable discharge in 1946.

In 1989, she and Noll moved from Downey, California to Las Vegas, Nevada, and then in 2007, they moved to St. George, Utah.

Allice is survived by her son, Wyly Thompson (Denise); six grandchildren: Tony Araiza (Liana), Cindy Descoteaux (Jason), Joseph Thompson, Michael Thompson, Lyndzee Polkey (Troy) and Danielle Strubel and seven great-grandchildren. Allice was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Chanda I. Thompson.
