Obituary

After a long battle with mental illness, Amanda Buist, 38, has returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven and grandparents. Amanda died September 21, 2021 at her home in Jackson, California.

Born August 6, 1983 in Logan, Utah to Tony and Helen Buist, Amanda grew up a happy and gifted child in Hurricane, Utah. Amanda's talents were natural and varied, ranging from dance and singing, to acting and sports. Many family vacations were spent traveling with the All American Cloggers where Amanda performed with dancers two years older, due to her exceptional talent. Her gifts extended beyond dance, using her beautiful voice to sing for enjoyment as well as performing in musicals and school plays at Hurricane High School. Her former director and teacher described her as a "favorite" and a "star." Amanda was athletic as well as artistic, playing both tennis and basketball for her high school teams.

Amanda's love for adventure and the unfamiliar was evidenced in her many travels, visiting New York City, Hawaii, Canada, India, Peru, Taiwan, England and Scotland where she spent her freshman year of college at Saint Andrews University. Her innate curiosity and diverse interests led her to study India's ancient medical system, Ayurveda, or "The Science of Life." She spent her adult life and career studying and sharing its healing philosophies with others. Amanda's caring and compassionate nature made her beloved by her nieces and nephews, brothers and sister, her parents, friends, and all who knew her.

Amanda is survived by her parents, Tony and Helen Buist; sister, Kathie (Kelby) Iverson; brothers, Jared and David; three nieces and three nephews who will miss her beautiful brown eyes and mischievous smile but are thankful that her mind is now at peace.
