Obituary

LaVerkin, Utah - Amos Jack Schoonover, 82, son of Amos James Schoonover and Lula Mae Osborne, died quietly in his home in LaVerkin, Utah in April 21, 2011. Jack was born February 9, 1929 in Prineville, Oregon. He grew up in Burley, Idaho where he met and married his sweetheart, Helen Egan. They had three children. Jack worked in the family business drilling water wells in Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. In 1956, he moved his family to Southern California. He worked as a welder for American Pipe, later called Ameron, until he retired 35 years later. Upon retirement, Jack and Helen moved to LaVerkin, Utah. Jack believed in family and hard, honest work. He was preceded in death by his eternal companion, Helen in 2009. He is survived by two sons: Jim and David; a daughter, Dawn Jordan; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Iva Wyatt and Ila Gillespie. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the LaVerkin LDS Stake Center, 481 North Main Street, LaVerkin, Utah. A visitation will be held Tuesday prior to services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will follow services at the LaVerkin Cemetery.
