Hurricane, Utah - Marjorie Ann Christensen Tarbet, 66, passed away suddenly of natural causes on Saturday, September 18, 2010. She was born December 30, 1943 in Richfield, Utah to Merrill Soren and Marjorie Parker Christensen. Ann was raised and attended school in Richfield graduating high school in 1962. She then continued her education at Utah State University and later graduated from Stevens-Henager College. Ann met Scott H. Tarbet while working in Salt Lake City and they were married on December 9, 1967 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 19, 1978. Ann was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities during her lifetime. Scott and Ann started their lives together in the Cottonwood area of Salt Lake. During this time they were blessed with a daughter. Due to job changes they moved to the St. George area residing in Santa Clara then Bloomington. During this time Ann worked for the Washington County School District and was an active participant in the Southwest Symphony. Later, due to job changes, Scott and Ann relocated back to North Salt Lake. While living in North Salt Lake Ann worked for the State of Utah for 15 years as a secretary for the Department of Education and the Department of Health. Once retired Ann and Scott returned to Southern Utah to live, establishing a new home in Hurricane, Utah. Ann is survived by her husband, Scott H. Tarbet; daughter, Julia Ann Tarbet of Aurora, Colorado; brother, Kent S. Christensen of Hooper, Utah and Sister-in-Law, Helen Christensen of St. George, Utah. Ann is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Merrill Don Christensen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hurricane LDS 11th Ward Chapel, 452 North 2600 West, Hurricane, Utah. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Chapel, prior to services. Interment will be held Friday, September 24, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at the Smithfield, Utah Cemetery.
