St. George, Utah - Anne Thorndike Cover passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 28, 1935 in New York to Ashley and Elizabeth Thorndike, She was married in 1953 to Edwin McIntosh (Mac) Cover in Irvington, NY and enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his death in 2015.
Anne was deeply involved in children's theater in Scarsdale, NY, Dallas, TX, and Darien, CT. She was also a pioneer in liturgical drama. As a member of the Music-Drama Guild at Saint Michael's Episcopal Church in Dallas, TX, she directed three full-scale operas from 1966 - 1968: Noah's Flood [Benjamin Britten], The Death of the Bishop of Brindisi [Gian Carlo Menotti,] and Saul [George Frideric Handel.]
Anne and Mac traveled the world throughout his law career and in retirement. They enjoyed homes in Scarsdale, NY; Dallas, TX; Ridgewood, NJ; Darien, CT; Savannah, GA; Park City, UT; and St. George, UT. They were particularly fond of curling, skiing, and boating. They were active members of the Episcopal Church and sang in the choir. Anne also enjoyed playing piano, painting, gardening, and decorating.
Anne is survived by her two daughters and their husbands: Carolyn & Bob Moore and Anne & Townsend Rawlins; her five grandchildren and their spouses: Mike and Olyvia Moore, Jenny and Tyler Andersen, Morgan and Colleen Rawlins, Eli Moore and Chelsea Rawlins and her three great-grandchildren: Beau Andersen, Leo Moore, and Liam Rawlins.
Anne is also survived by her sister Betsy Wilson and husband Doug and her sister Carolyn Davis and several nieces & nephews.
A private memorial service will be held in the spring of 2024.
