IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur Leonard
Sandberg
April 8, 1928 – October 3, 2012
St. George, UT - Arthur Leonard Sandberg, 84, peacefully passed away on October 3, 2012. He was born Easter Sunday, 1928, to Kimball and Lucy Estelle Sandberg. He married Yvonne Parker in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 19, 1950. The wedding took place after fishing and before deer seasons, and Yvonne had no idea the passion he held for those sports and the outdoors.
Art was proud to serve his country with two terms in the U.S. Navy. He studied at Utah State University, majoring in English and Economics with a French minor. Later he taught high school English and coached varsity golf and tennis in Utah and California. His personal three holes in one made him well qualified to be called, "Coach."
He is adored by his wife of 62 years, daughters, Shauna and Shellie, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Art was extremely generous to friends, family and several charities, his favorite being Smile Train. The Sandberg family thanks Hospice of Southern Utah for their warmth and compassionate care provided these past nine months. We love and appreciate Bob Grokey and his committed team of professionals.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, UT. A visitation will be held the night before on Monday, October 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
