Audrey J. Castle, 85 yrs. old, died on Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 of natural causes in her home at Beehive Homes, St. George, Utah. She was born 13 July, 1924 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada to Murdock McLeod and Mary Ida Harbottle. She married John Noel Castle. They were married in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada. Audrey had a wonderful childhood, playing with her sisters, cousins and friends. Although raised during the wartime, it seemed that someone always found a candy for her to enjoy. She had many sweet memories of going out to the cabin. She was a devoted wife and mother, giving all her energies to her children. She was always at home and there for her children at a moment's notice. She also ran a daycare and loved and nourished more than 300 children, plus many of Northwood University's college students later on. She and John loved to care for everyone and did so with warmth and flair. She was an avid reader, speeding through books at high speed. She liked to pass along good jokes, keeping everyone smiling. She supported her dear husband as they moved across country a few times in his various jobs. Her memory was amazing right up to the end, entertaining family and friends with all she had done in life. Audrey came into this world meek and sweet and left us with those wonderful characteristics. Her favorite hymn near the end of life was "Abide With Me", symbolic of where her heart gained comfort. She is survived by her husband John N. Castle, children Jane (and David Dodd) of El Dorado Hills, CA., Pamela (and Richard Somers) of St. George, Utah and John P. Castle (and Marie-France Landry) plus five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Pineview/Metcalf Mortuary located near Red Cliffs Mall, 566 No. Mall Dr., St. George, Utah 84790.
