Barbara Ann
Bertagnole
January 13, 1932 – August 30, 2018
The eldest of three siblings, Barbara Ann Bertagnole, 86, was born January 13, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, ascended to heaven on August 30, 2018, to once again be with her Heavenly Father and those friends and relatives that had passed before her.
She married Harold William Bertagnole in 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. Barbara and Harold did everything together, from square dancing to traveling overseas and exploring the many beautiful trails of southern Utah with their many friends.
Barbara strove to excel in all aspects of her life, as wife, mother and her educational pursuits. She was extremely proud of graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Utah and enjoyed her career as a school librarian in the Granite School District. She had sole responsibility of raising her two children while attending school, as her husband was away for long periods of time as a landowner and sheep rancher. She took on added responsibility while helping raise two of her grandchildren after her son's divorce.
Barbara enjoyed reading and would relate interesting stories and tidbits of information to her family and friends. She took special note of anything humorous in her reading and would pass that along to lift the spirits of her friends and family. Barbara knew the best books for children and often read to her grandchildren while they visited with her in Salt Lake City.
She enjoyed cooking and doing crafts with her five grandchildren and later, learned computer skills that would allow her to keep in touch with them. She loved her grandchildren and strove to be the best grandmother she could be.
Barbara is survived by: daughter, Catherine Partridge and son, Hal Bertagnole. Five grandchildren: Vanessa, Vincent, Athena, Alexa and Abby and great-granddaughter, Zana Lee Baker. She is preceded in death by her brother, Edwin and sister, Judy.
