St. George, UT - Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Bessie Lucille Skelton Sorensen, age 80, returned to Our Heavenly Father peacefully, March 25, 2010, due to complications from a fall. She was born in Tooele, Utah to Richard Oren and Lottie Ann Skelton on December 25, 1929. She met her sweetheart, Earl Duane Sorensen, when he was in the service in Tooele, Utah. They were married on January 7, 1954 in Tooele, Utah. They solemnized their wedding in the Salt Lake City Temple on April 1, 1960. Mom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served the church in many capacities. Mom and dad loved watching the Utah Jazz whenever there was a game on TV. Mom also loved to get on her computer and play games. She loved showing all her and dads rocks to any one that came to the house. She was always giving people a polished stone because they were so pretty. Mom also enjoyed fishing. Mom enjoyed crocheting and she won many ribbons at the fairs. Bessie is survived by her husband, Earl Duane Sorensen of St. George; one daughter Doris Kelly (Mike) Rarick of Price; two sons: Sonny Leo (Susan) Sorensen of Mount Pleasant; Gary Don (Linda) Sorensen of St. George; sister Doris (Garry) Gregory of Magna; brother Larry (Connie) Skelton of St. George, three sisters-in-law: Phyllis Skelton of West Valley, Denise Skelton of Pahrump, Nevada, Mary Skelton of Ivins, Utah, 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one son, Earl Leroy Sorensen. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington Hills LDS Stake Center, 1030 E. Brigham Rd., St. George, UT. Visitations will be held on Sunday, March 28, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd. and on Monday at the Stake Center from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
