Obituary

Washington, Utah - Betsy Ann Newton passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday June 28, 2022, age 72. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado to John Aman and Dorothy Lucile Zieman Newton on August 30, 1949.

After high school she entered a nursing program and graduated as an LPN. She cared for her father during his final days. Then in 1974 Betsy and her Mom moved to Smithfield, Utah. In 1990 Betsy and her daughter Laurie moved to Washington, Utah where she lived until she returned to her Father in Heaven.

While a single Mom and working full time, she studied and earned her RN. Betsy worked in many aspects of nursing: In a hospital in Pueblo, was company nurse in a factory and in an assisted living care center in Logan, she worked for doctors in private practices in Logan and St George, and a trauma center in Phoenix, Arizona. During her last work years, she worked in home health and hospice.

Betsy was devoted, caring, and dedicated to helping and comforting those in her care. She generously shared her skills and caring with family, friends, and others.

Betsy loved to cook and was happiest when she had a group to cook for. She made and decorated many wedding cakes.

Betsy had a quick wit and a fun sense of humor and was laughing and joking even in her final days.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Mae (Peggy); brothers: John Lewis (Bud) and Michael Dwight; as well as a nephew, James Jeffery Newton. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Dudley; and grandson, Kalob Lucas Dudley, both of whom she dearly loved and have been a great blessing to her. She is also survived by her brother Patrick Joseph Newton (Janet) and nieces and nephews who loved her very much, each one knew they were her favorite.

Memorial services will be in held Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Washington 7 th Ward Relief Society Room, 82 North Main Street, Washington, Utah. Interment will be in the Cremation Gardens at Tonaquint Cemetery 1777 South Dixie Dr, St George, Utah.
