St. George, Utah – Bette Corrine Cannon 98 passed away June 3rd, 2024. She was born April 2,1926, in Grants Pass, Oregon to Guy Hubert and Marion Regina Hoxie. She graduated from McMinnville High School and University of Oregon where she was active in Chi Omega sorority.
After graduating, she was a stewardess for American Airlines, which began her love for travel. She married Bill Cannon in 1969. They acquired many businesses working side by side as a team. They traveled with Utah's Color Country promoting southern Utah for several years. She was an active member of the St. George Ladies of Elks, which she was very passionate about, also she belonged to the Bette Club, the Red Hat Society, and was a model for Evelyn's Dress Shop. She loved keeping busy with her knitting, making afghans, scarfs, and dish cloths which we all love and cherish.
Bette always greeted you with a hug and a smile. Her high-spirited zest for life was always present.
Bette is survived by daughter-in-law, Kathy Blasey of Mesa, AZ; granddaughter, Toni Holt of Las Vegas, NV; great granddaughter, Bailey O'Campo of Las Vegas, NV; stepdaughter, Cathy Gardner of Provo, UT; stepdaughter, Susie (Jeff) Holt of Dammeron Valley, UT; stepson, Woody (Laurie) Cannon of Salt Lake City, UT; and stepdaughter, Tootie (Rick) Eddings of Washington, UT. She had many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Mark Holt; grandsons: Clint Adams and Morgan Cannon; and great grandson, Holden Buh.
The family would like to thank Spring Gardens for their wonderful assistance and care.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Saturday, prior to services, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.
