Lehi, Utah - Early in the morning of May 25, 2013, Bettie F. Brunt Coles passed away after a battle with heart disease and cancer. She was a special lady, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Bettie was born March 31, 1923 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Joseph A. and Fanny Gudmundsen Brunt. She was the sixth child of her family. Her siblings were Paul, Lavon, Melba, Erma, Mac and Steve.
She lived a life of happiness in the Idaho Falls community in her youth, and graduated from high school there. The war broke out and she went to Long Beach, CA to find work. There she later met and married John Edmund "Eddie" Coles in the Logan LDS Temple on July 20, 1943. Eddie was a physician in the Air Force and they lived in many places during his career. She raised eight children: Bettie Fann (Richard) Wilson, John (Carol) Daniel (Sue), David (Diane) Cathy (Steven) Wilson, Mary (Stephen) Davis, Paul and Michael.
Bettie loved art and took many painting classes. She loved traveling and visiting many of the countries of the world. She was always happy, friendly, kind and could be a friend to anyone. She could laugh at herself and loved to joke and make people laugh. She served faithfully in the Los Angeles LDS Temple for 15 years and served others for all of her 90 years.
John retired in Riverside, CA where they lived for many years. They spent the last 15 years in St. George, UT. She is survived by her husband; one brother; seven children; 42 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington LDS 3 rd Ward Chapel, 3519 Manzanita Road, St. George, Utah. Interment will follow at Tonaquint Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221. Pl
