St. George, UT - Betty Crookston Dahl, 73, of St. George, died peacefully Sunday, August 2, 2009. She was born November 18, 1935 in Salt Lake City to Thomas and Oda Andersen Crookston. Betty attended West High School and married the late Gordon F. Lee. They moved to Bountiful, Utah, where they raised five children and were later divorced. She married George Dahl on August 17, 1983, and they lived together in Alaska before relocating to St. George in 1993. Betty worked in the human resources department at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful and at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska. She also soloed in an airplane, served as president of the Mesas Home Owners Association for many years, and was active in many organizations including the Bettys Club of St. George. She loved reading, sewing, and needlepoint. Betty is survived by her husband George Dahl; five children: Randy Lee, Shauna Hammond, Kerry Lee, Scott Lee, and Stacie Cahill and their spouses; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; survived also by brother Thomas J. Crookston. We admire her strength and dignity in dealing with her cancer, and honor her generous heart., magnanimous spirit, and ability to befriend all those she met. We shall miss her greatly.
