Obituary

St. George, Utah – Billy Joe Dyer, 88, passed away May 27, 2017. He was born December 9, 1928 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to James Daniel and Maudie Farris Dyer.

He married Velma Smith on July 23, 1949. She was born April 2, 1933 to Fredrick George and Kata Vada Coots Smith in Wetumka, Oklahoma. She passed away, age 80, on September 16, 2013. They were married 64 years, and never gave up. They were blessed with two children: Jerry and Laureen. They took special joy in spending time with their three grandchildren: Bryan Allen (Bricanei) Dyer, Brad David Dyer, and Amber Leigh (David) Mills; six great-grandchildren: Robert Anthony Valdez, Rowan, Aiden and Errol Dyer, Mason and Matthew Mills; and one great-great-grandson, Eli Valdez.

They enjoyed spending time in their garden. They were well known for its beauty, especially their roses.

Billy and Velma loved and honored their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Their lives were a great example of their love for Him.

Psalms 116:15, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints."

Billy and Velma are survived by their son, Jerry K. (Laurie) Dyer; daughter, Laureen Dyer; three grandchildren: six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Velma; daughter, Linda Joyce Dyer; and granddaughter, Alicia Lynne Dyer.

Billy was buried next to his loving wife and "precious sweetheart", Velma, in Tonaquint Cemetery.
