St. George, Utah
– Our beautiful mother, grandmother and friend, Bonita Pendleton Ashby passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 after a five year struggle following a massive stroke. She was born June 30, 1927 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Gus Chatterley and Marvel Estella Abbott Pendleton. She spent her first nine years living in Bunkerville, Nevada. At that time her family moved to St. George, Utah where she attended school. She married Leslie Branch Ashby on December 21, 1951. They were later sealed on March 3, 1956 in the St. George LDS Temple.
Bonita is survived by her children: Dale Ross (Brenda) Ashby, Alan Brent Ashby, Christine (Kenneth) Bulloch, Leslie Jane (Christopher) Black and Julie Ashby; 26 grandchildren; and 77 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; her parents; all of her siblings: Maxine (Jesse) Phillips, Keith (Gay) Pendleton, Daniel (Delores) Pendleton, Gloria (Loris) Westover and James (Colleen) Pendleton; and one great-grandchild, Nicholas Lee Long.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday, prior to services, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
