Obituary

Santa Clara, Utah – Bonnie Schurz Kump was born August 9, 1939 to Harold and Mamie Schurz in Ogden, Utah. Bonnie died on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Peoria, Arizona.

Bonnie was the 4th of 6 kids. Bonnie met Cloyd Kump in LaPoint, Utah and began their courtship. They were married on June 21, 1958. Cloyd's work for the National Park Service took him and Bonnie to many destinations throughout the United States. Their first child, Tamera Jackson, was born while they were still living in Vernal, UT in 1959. Their travels next took them to Wupatki National Monument in Arizona. Their second child, Shauna Martinez, was born while they were there in Flagstaff, Arizona. Todd came along in 1963 while they were living in the Badlands of South Dakota. Cloyd's work next took Bonnie and their family to Hawaii, where they lived in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park from 1965 to 1970. In 1970 the family moved to Boulder City, Nevada. From there they moved to Santa Fe, NM until they retired. While in Santa Fe she started a career working at Walmart as the claims manager for 12 years. In 1998 Bonnie and Cloyd moved to St. George, where they remained. They were sealed in the St. George Temple in 2000.

Bonnie and Cloyd loved music. They both came from families that enjoyed making music together and could often be found singing together with Cloyd playing guitar at various family functions and church gatherings. Music also took them on the road, and they loved traveling together. Cloyd was part of the Southern Utah Heritage Choir and Bonnie enjoyed tagging along for the ride to places such as London, Scotland, and Ireland. Bonnie also had a great love for her grandchildren and many of their travels took them to visit their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family vacations were always a favorite of Bonnie's, and she enjoyed several family vacations to the National Parks over the years, where she and Cloyd were able to share their love for our national parks with their children and grandchildren.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Tamera, of Littleton, Colorado, Shauna, (Mike), of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and Todd (Kirstie) of Surprise, Arizona; her grandchildren: Shaeleen, Lindsey, Sean, Kristie, Hunter, Emma, & Aidan; 12 great-grandchildren; her brothers: Donald and Steve Schurz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd and her grandson, Zachary.
