IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bonnie Michelle
Reed
August 30, 1980 – March 1, 2023
Washington, Utah – Bonnie Michelle Reed, age 42, passed away from glioblastoma multiforme, a form of brain cancer, on March 1, 2023. Michelle died peacefully in her home in Washington, Utah, surrounded by loved ones. She died in the arms of the love of her life, her husband, Ian.
Michelle was born on August 30, 1980, in Cedar City, Utah to R. Clayton and Bonnie M. Huntsman. The happiest day of Michelle's life was the day she married Ian Lloyd Reed on May 1, 2004, in St. George, Utah. Never have we seen a couple who cared so much for each other and loved each other more through difficult challenges than Michelle and Ian. They were inseparable and were always there for each other.
Michelle is survived by her husband, Ian; her parents; brother, Robert (Natalie) Huntsman of New York City, New York; sister, Sonia (Rob) Ickes of Redmond, Oregon; nieces: Anya Huntsman and Mariel Huntsman; and nephew, Owen Ickes. She is also survived by Ian's parents, David and Elizabeth Reed; Ian's brothers: Jared, Andew, and Daniel and their families; and by Ian's sisters: Sarah and Rachel and their families.
Michelle was raised in St. George, Utah where she graduated from Pine View High School. She played the flute like an angel and performed in several concerts in grade school and in college. She graduated from Utah Tech University with a B.A. in childhood education and a B.S. in computer science. She loved working with children, especially those with disabilities. Michelle taught at George Washington Academy, and managed all tech issues at The Huntsman Firm, LLC. She was also a loving wife to Ian and great mother to her English Cream Golden Retriever, Lucy.
Michelle loved her home, her friends and family and was much loved by all she met. She made many cross stitches for family members, who proudly displayed her art pieces in their homes. She also made many quilts and blankets for loved ones. Michelle loved the outdoors. Her second happiest day was the day that she adopted her fur baby, Lucy. Her happiest times were perhaps the long hikes she took with Lucy. Never was there a better mother than Michelle to her Lucy. The two were inseparable. Lucy passed away on January 31, 2023, just 29 days before Michelle passed. They are undoubtedly hiking in the foothills of heaven together.
Michelle joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she turned 18,and was a faithful member. She especially loved working with the children in her ward. Michelle was very sociable and had many friends in her community and neighborhood. Anyone who met Michelle immediately loved her. She was known as the de facto Mayor of the Washington City Dog Park.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will follow in the Washington City Cemetery, 300 Park View Drive, Washington, Utah.
The family especially wishes to thank Luisa "Susie" Fernandez and her daughter, Sarah who lovingly provided outstanding and faithful care for Michelle since August 2020. Special thanks to the Dixie Hospice team led by Britni Davis, R.N.
We have all been so blessed to have Michelle in our lives. She was loved and been so loved by Ian, her family, friends, and Lucy. Our lives are so much richer because she came to earth to spend time with all of us. There will not be a day that goes by that we will not miss the beautiful angel, Bonnie Michelle. She has taught us all to appreciate and cherish each day that we have and to hold our loved ones close to us. She taught us to not take life for granted but to enjoy each and every moment, even the moments that do not seem that significant at the time as these moments may later become our very fondest and most important memories.
