Obituary

Brittany Brathay Swinney Smith

Washington, Utah - A beautiful ray of sunshine has disappeared from our lives. Brittany Brathay Swinney Smith was born on August 6, 1983, in Ogden, Utah at the McKay-Dee Hospital to parents, Duane and Sherry Swinney. She was the most beautiful baby in the hospital nursery. She passed into the hands of her Heavenly Father, too soon, on January 26, 2016. She was 32 years old. Brittany was a remarkable optimist. She had great joy for life. Her constant beautiful smile melted every heart. Brittany was raised in Brigham City, Utah. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 2001. A major part of Brittany's life revolved around Soccer. She began playing at age 4 and never stopped. There is no doubt she is organizing a Soccer game in Heaven right now. She also enjoyed Snow Boarding and Water Skiing. Brittany attended Dixie College in St. George, Utah. On September 13, 2002, she married her perfect love, Brad Smith, in the Bountiful Temple. They had four beautiful children: Triniti (12), Kamden (10), Jaxon (7) and Braxton (7). Her family ultimately became her greatest treasure. She interned as a Medical Assistant until she began having severe health issues. In spite of her health problems her spirit was always positive and she fought diligently to survive.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brittany held many positions in Primary and Young Women. Despite the difficulty in attending church, she cherished every moment she could spend there.

Brittany is survived by her husband and 4 children, St. George, Utah, her parents, Duane and Sherry, Brigham City, Utah, brother Todd Swinney (Yolanda), Roy, Utah, sisters, Dianne Carlson (Ricky), Sunset, Utah, Arianne Swinney, Roosevelt, Utah, April Lund (Tim), St. George, Utah, Chantelle Jones (Warren), Canandaigua, NY and Emilee Pallas, her adopted hospital sister, Santa Clara, Utah, and many nieces and nephews and a world full of friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents George and Mae Swinney: and Clarence and Marion Taylor.

Brittany will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her sweet spirit and positive outlook continue to help each of us to feel joy in our lives.
