Obituary

Ivins, Utah - Bud Duane Dunn, 100, passed away on June 1, 2023. He was born on April 3, 1923, in Joseph, Utah, to William Dunn and Charlotte Bradbury.  Bud married Burnetta Pearson on September 4, 1941. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on June 26, 1942.

In 1944 Bud enlisted in the US Army. He proudly served during WWII and later was honorably discharged.

Bud and Burnetta spent most of their lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Bud graduated from the University of Utah College of Pharmacy in its first graduating class and spent his career in pharmacy.  He opened his own pharmacy, Millcreek Pharmacy, in 1955; and many of his family followed his footsteps into the profession.

Bud was also an avid outdoorsman having spent his childhood in Southern Utah which led to him having a strong work ethic.  Bud and Burnetta owned a ranch in Snyderville, Utah, for many years and it was a gathering place for holidays for the family.  He had a love for horses and the outdoors, and one of their greatest pleasures was traveling and camping with extended family and friends.

Bud was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire life.  He held multiple callings, including serving as bishop and on the high council.  Bud and Burnetta served a mission together to New Zealand and continued to serve in the Temple for most of their lives.  The gospel was important to Bud, and he shared that with his family, and all three sons served fulltime missions for the Church.

Bud and Burnetta fell in love with St. George and spent years traveling back and forth from Salt Lake City, finally moving full time to St. George in 1994.  His family loved visiting him there and going out to meals.  Bud was an example of faith and perseverance and was amazing to his family, and he is looking forward to being reunited with his beloved wife Burnetta and three sons.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn (Kevin) Pugmire; and two daughters-in-law, Carol (Brian) Dunn and Holli (Paul) Dunn; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Burnetta; three sons: Rodney, Brian, and Paul; and one daughter-in-law, Linda (Rodney).

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.
