Obituary

St. George, UT - Calvin M North, 81, passed away with his family by his side, March 23, 2010 in St. George, Utah. He was born in Provo, Utah, January 31, 1929 to Mill and Grace Allen North. He married Darlene Price, June 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Cal was raised in Charleston, Utah. He graduated from Wasatch High School in 1947. After graduation he joined the Air Force and served four years during the Korean War. Following his service in the Air Force, Cal joined the reserves and became a journeyman mechanic. He served full-time for 32 years with the Springville National Guard as the Shop Chief and Master Sergeant. Cal had many hobbies and talents and could fix anything. The thing he cherished most was the time he spent with his family. Family outings at their cabin, golfing, and watching his kids play ball or perform were some of his favorite pastimes. He always made his family a priority and supported them in everything they did; traveling many miles to be to all their games and activities. He was so proud of each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dad was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and an adoring grandfather. He was also a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife, Darlene, served as missionaries at the St. George Family History Center. Cal was a dedicated Home Teacher and loved his last calling as greeter. Calvin is survived by his wife, four children, William (Teri), Springville, Michael (Michelle), Santa Clara, John (Mary), Centerville, Kalene Velardi (Ron), Denver, two sisters, Eva Dean Parcell and Myrna Kowallis (Bob); ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Foster Hills Chapel, 912 South 1740 East, St. George, Utah at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be Friday, March 26, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., and again on Saturday, March 27th, from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m. at the Foster Hills Chapel on Foremaster Ridge. Internment will be held Monday, March 29, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.in the Midway, Utah Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Brian Ellsworth and Southern Utah Hospice for their dedication and tender care.
