Obituary

St. George, Utah - Carl W. Chormicle 92 passed away April 17, 2011 in St. George, Utah. He was born January 23, 1919 in Los Angeles, California to Oscar and Viola Veree Chrisman Chormicle. He married his sweetheart, Anita Bickmore on March 3, 1946. They just celebrated 65 years together Carl served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a Sgt. with the 5th Air Force 90th Bomb Group. He served in the South Pacific in five major campaigns. Carl never met a stranger, he was always the first person to volunteer to help. He served as a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 49 in Santa Barbara, CA. He was a 55 year member and Past Master of La Cumbre Masonic Lodge. He was 54 year Past Patron of Santa Barbara Chapter #501 of The Order Of The Eastern Star, also a member of Silver Reef Chapter #26 of The OES and Past Patron. He was also a member of Channel Island Chapter #79 OES of Ventura, CA. Carl also is a former member of Al Malaikah Shrine of Los Angeles, CA, and the Scottish Right of Santa Barbara. He retired in 1971, after 31 years of Government service and the Santa Barbara Post Office. Carl is survived by his wife, Anita; son, Wesley (Kathy Butterfield); son-in-law, Charles Bailey; seven grandchildren; and four great - grandchildren. Carl is preceded in death by a daughter, Melinda Chormicle Bailey and a grandson, Steven Charles Bailey. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Mortuary, prior to services. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
