Carl Reed
Larsen
May 3, 1935 – November 6, 2017
St. George/Price UT - Carl Reed Larsen graduated from this life on November 6, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on May 3, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Atlee and Marjorie Larsen.
In his younger years he grew up in California. Carl's Grandparents lived in Salt Lake where he would come every summer to get away from the smog of Southern California. He loved living in Utah where every chance he got he would explore the vast outdoors.
At the age of 19, with his dearest sister Dee by his side, Carl became an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He embraced the Gospel for the remainder of his life.
In 1959, Carl answered the call to serve his country in the US Army where he worked as a mechanic. Following his service to our country, at the ripe old age of 26, Carl answered the call of the Lord and honorably served a 2-year mission to Argentina where he was known as "The Grandpa" of the Mission.
On New Year's Eve 1965, he finally met the love of his life, Evelyn Johnson. They were married in the Manti Temple on Friday, May 13, 1966. There was not a day that went by that he didn't let Evelyn know how much he loved her and how beautiful she is. He always felt he was so lucky to have her as his wife. They soon started their family with 4 handsome boys followed by 3 beautiful girls. Carl and Evelyn always provided the best Home for their children. Truly, they made their home a "bliss complete" because there was "Love at Home".
Carl earned his Master's Degree from BYU and then took his family to live in Carbon County for the next 30 years. He worked for Carbon School District as a Child Psychologist. He loved working with the people in the schools but most of all he loved all of the children he came in contact with.
Upon retiring from Carbon School District, Carl again answered the call to serve. This time, he was grateful to have his favorite companion by his side. Carl and Evelyn served as missionaries to Fort Bluff in Southern Utah.
Carl had a knack for fixing things and always kept everything in good repair. When not working in the garage or the yard, Carl was "doozing" things up in the kitchen. He would always improve his food with some concoction that he made up.
He taught his kids to love hard work, to have a love for this great country and most importantly a love for our Savior Jesus Christ.
It is difficult to sum up a man's life in just a few sentences but Dad left us a great legacy of faith and love.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and seven children: Ron (Jaci) Larsen of St. George, UT, Russ (Angie) Larsen of Benson, UT, Daren (Sondra) Larsen of Vernal, UT, Chris (Raquel) Larsen of Veyo, Ut, Margie (Jesse) McCourt of Kenilworth, UT, Mary (Chet) Stewart of Price, UT, and Alison (Jeff) Madrid of Price, UT; 29 wonderful grandchildren and 4 precious great-grandchildren.
