IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol
Engelstead
February 8, 1928 – February 2, 2022
Henderson, Nevada - Carol Englestead was born Maurine Carol Bird, in Milford, Utah on February 8, 1928, and passed away on February 2, 2022, in Henderson, Nevada. Carol was the oldest child to La Von Bird and Althea Helgeson Dix, followed by sister Donna and brother Ted. Her siblings were her dearest friends. Carol spent her childhood in small-town southern Nevada, growing up in Pioche and Caliente. She attended high school in Panaca, Nevada, as that was the nearest high school to Pioche. She finished high school in Cedar City where she moved when she was 16. This is where she first encountered the group of girlfriends that would become known as The Tribe. When Carol entered the working world, she worked many years in grocery stores as a checker. She met the love of her life, Homer Quim Englestead in Cedar City. Together they raised their three children, Donna Rae, Russell and Christine in Henderson, Nevada where Carol had found work in a grocery store and Homer sold insurance and real estate. Carol and Homer grew their real estate business where they sold mountain land. Their flagship cabin on Cedar Mountain was called Englestead Estates and welcomed many through its doors as people enjoyed the Englestead's company and their Tiki Punch.
Carol is survived by her children: Donna Rae Mahan (James, deceased), Russell Englestead (Teresa) and Christine Bidwell (Fred, deceased); her eight grandchildren: Traci, Martin, Andrea, Joshua, Patrick, Jason, Erica and Holly; and many great and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Quim; sister, Donna; sons-in-law, James and Fred; and the Tribe.
An intimate graveside service will be held in Carol's memory on Saturday, February 12, 2022, in Hurricane, Utah.
