IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Vivrette
Tullis
September 10, 1948 – October 25, 2024
Carol Vivrette Tullis, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 25, 2024, at age 76. Carol was born in Albany, California, in 1948, to James and Cornelia Vivrette. She was joined three years later by a little brother, Jim, and their family moved from Kensington to Oakland when Carol was in the first grade. During her school years, she participated in the Weldonian Marching Band, playing the flute. Other favorite early memories included many family road trips, with a book always close to hand. After graduating from Oakland High School, she attended Cal State Hayward, earning a degree in Education and a teaching certificate. Carol's passion for teaching shaped a dedicated career spanning over 22 years, first in the Fremont School District, where she taught 2nd and 4th grades. She later became a Categorical Teacher in Health, PE, and Music in the Berryessa Union School District, positively influencing countless young lives.
Carol married Richard Alan Parker in December 1968, with whom she had two children. After their divorce in 1975, she married John Philo Tullis in November 1976, and together they welcomed three more children. In 1978, Carol and John made their home in San Jose, California, where they raised their family. In 2005, Carol and John shared a profound experience together as service missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Birmingham, England. Upon returning from England in 2007, they settled in Folsom, California, where Carol remained active in her community until her passing. A devoted family historian, Carol spent countless hours researching her family's lineage, piecing together stories, and preserving heritage. Known for her love of service, Carol volunteered as a California Living History Missionary, forming close friendships with those she served with. She lived a life marked by generosity, faith, and a strong dedication to those around her.
Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and service in her family. She is survived by her five children: Alyse (Steve) Davis, Suzanne Brink, Renae (Ryan) Miller-Robertson, Janelle (Lance) Mock, and John David (LeeElle) Tullis; her 22 grandchildren; her 11 great-grandchildren; and her brother Jim (Sylvia) Vivrette, as well as other cherished extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Tullis. Her family, friends, and students will remember her unwavering kindness, her love for learning, and her gentle but strong spirit. Carol's life touched many, and her memory will be treasured by all who knew her.
