Ivins, UT - Carolee Irene Childs Newman passed away December 4, 2013, She was born November 23, 1931 in Springville, Utah to Russell and Clara Childs. In 1950, she met her future husband, Howell Newman. They were married on June 1, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Carolee had polio when she was just 12 years old. She graduated from the Springville High School and LDS Seminary. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an artist and especially enjoyed oil painting and creating beautiful porcelain dolls. They moved from Utah to Glendora, CA in 1957 and returned to St. George, UT in 1994.

Carolee is survived by her husband, Howell; her children: David (Diane), Jana Beesley, Brenda (George) Lingle; grandchildren: Brian Newman, Christopher Newman, Jeff Newman, Bobbi (Dennis) Farnsworth, Jacob Drefchinski, Victoria Drefchinski and Rebecca Lingle; and great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Addelyn, Landon, Devynlee and Dylan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Saturday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Metcalf. Interment will be held at the St. George City Cemetery.
