IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn
Melessa
January 20, 1950 – January 13, 2021
St. George, Utah - Carolyn Melessa left mortality on January 13, 2021, one week before her 71st birthday. She was born into this world in Cedar City, Utah, on January 20,1950 to Rowena Truman and Anthony Joseph Melessa. Her growing up years and schooling, of which she had very fond memories, took place in Enterprise, Utah.
Upon graduation from Enterprise High School, Carolyn moved to Salt Lake City where she attended and graduated from Stevens-Henager College with an associate degree. She worked for a number of real estate companies before accepting a position with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an executive secretary. Carolyn worked mainly in the curriculum department for over twenty years. She loved her work and those she worked with. She felt that, in a small way, she was helping to make the world a better place.
Eventually, complications from Multiple Sclerosis necessitated Carolyn's retirement from full-time employment. She returned to live with her father in the family home in Enterprise until his passing in 2006. Shortly thereafter, she became a resident of Kolob Care and Rehabilitation (now Bella Terra) where she has lived for the past 14 years.
Carolyn was very generous and devoted to living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Family and friends were important to her, and she often delighted nieces and nephews with treats when she visited. In addition to her immediate family, Carolyn dearly loved all her aunts, uncles, cousins and the wonderful people in Enterprise, Salt Lake City, and St. George that she became very close to and who helped her in so many different ways.
Carolyn was preceded in leaving mortality by her parents; an older sister, Cheryl; and a younger brother, Sam. There are certainly wonderful reunions happening now. She is survived by an older sister, Lorraine (Doug) Jones of Enterprise; and a younger brother, Steve (Pat) of Washington, Utah; as well as eleven nieces and nine nephews and their families.
Carolyn's family wishes to express their deep and sincere appreciation to all the nurses, CNAs, aids, staff and administration at Bella Terra for their patient, kind, and compassionate care over many years. The nurses, staff and doctors who cared for her at St. George Regional Hospital were also exceptional. We express gratitude to the many neighbors, friends and ward members in Enterprise, Salt Lake City and the Morningside 2nd ward, that helped her through the years and showed her genuine Christ-like love and concern.
