St. George, Utah - Carroll Maurice Roberts (Cal) passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 in St. George, Utah. He was born July 6, 1921 in Weiser, Idaho to Maurice Royal and Coralie A. E. Myers Roberts. He was the second of four sons. He married Catherine Rogers April 5, 1943 and they were the proud parents of three beautiful daughters. They were sealed as an eternal family in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 6, 1952. In 1993, after 50 years of marriage, his beloved sweetheart, Catherine stepped through the veil. He later married Helen Marr Clark.

As a youth, Cal had a zeal and love for life which carried into his later years. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and felt the protection of the Lord many times in his life, especially when serving as a United States Marine during WWII. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a proud and loyal citizen who loved his country. Semper Fi!

Most of his working years he held various positions in the Boise Cascade Lumber Company from which he later retired. Cal always had a book in his hand and had a passion for family history. He enjoyed the music of Bach, the Sousa Marches and the Hymns. He loved gardening and found beauty in all of nature. He always encouraged his family to stop, see and enjoy the beauty of the earth surrounding them.

Cal had a great love for His Savior. His many years of Temple service were dear to him, including his service in the Manila Phillippines Temple Mission with his wife, Helen Marr.

His most prized possession was his family. He cherished his wife, Catherine and thier family together. At the age of 74, Cal married again and he and Helen Marr shared 17 wonderful years together. They were able to seamlessly blend the two families and he loved each and every one as his own.

Cal was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; his brothers: Fred, John and Lonnie David; his son-in-law, Brent Morgan; and grandsons: Michael and Matthew Esplin.

Cal is survived by his wife, Helen Marr; daughters: Laurie Jean (Bob) Esplin, Barbara Lee (Ed) Mitchell and Coralie Susan Morgan; step-sons: Stephen (Nancy) Clark, Jeffrey (Patti) Clark and Gary (Sheila) Bikman (and the late Suzanne Bikman); 88 grandchildren; 133 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held in St. George, Utah Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd.
A second visitation will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 10:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful LDS 28th Ward, 2285 South 2nd West, Bountiful, Utah. Interment will follow at the Bountiful City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
