Washington, UT " Catherine S. Hubbard Old, 89, went to be with Jesus on August 15, 2014 in St. George, Utah. She was born October 14, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to Otto and Coletta Scharf. She is survived by daughters Susan (Clayton) Bender and Judith (David) Mayfield; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Allen) Fletcher and Carolyn Williams.

Throughout her life, Catherine was always active in various types of needle work such as knitting, crocheting, embroidering and cross-stitching. She had a delightful sense of humor, enjoyed giving to others and was a close friend to many. For several years after moving to Utah she clipped coupons which were sent to military families throughout the world. She enjoyed cooking and would often make more than enough in order to give portions to family and friends. One of her favorite activities was playing cards with her lady friends on Mondays and Thursdays. She loved working on jig saw puzzles and always had one in progress.

A Celebration of Catherines life for family and close friends will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A service will also be heldon Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, Toledo, Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
