IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cecile "Cec"
Sittre
March 8, 1926 – September 12, 2012
St. George, Utah - Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Cecile "Cec" Johnson Sittr passed away September 12, 2012. She was born March 8, 1926 in Provo, Utah to Andrew James Johnson and Ezetta Delight Julander Johnson, the youngest of 8 children. She married Jacob Joseph (Cisco) Sittr on August 11, 1942 in Park City, Utah and they had eight children. She is survived by six of her children: Penny (Brent) Tryon, Wayne D. (DeAnna) Sittr, JoAnn (Chuck) Evans, Gary B. (LuAnn) Sittr, Sheri Ann (Tom) Hundley and Debra Ann Anderson; and daughter-in-law, Theresa "Biet" Sittr. She was preceded in death by an infant son in 1947; her husband of 60 years in 2002 (they lovingly referred to each other as Papa Bear and Mama Bear); her eldest son, Dennis J. Sittr in 2008; and son-in-law, Wally Anderson in 2011.
There was nothing more important to "Mama Bear" than her 7 children, 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. To honor that love, 52 stuffed bears with the names of each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren decorated her hospital room and watched over her as she went home to the waiting arms of her heavenly family. The bears will be donated in her memory to the Victim Services Department of Washington City, Utah and the Las Vegas, Nevada Metro Police Departments where two of her grandsons currently serve as Police Officers.
Our dear mother loved to quilt, read, do her crossword puzzles and watch her favorite programs on TV. She especially enjoyed when the Pittsburgh Steelers won their football games so she could collect her "dollar bet" from her eldest daughter and talking with her daughter in California while they watched "Dancing with the Stars" together. We will miss all of Moms homemade goodies. In particular, her fudge, divinity, cookies (oatmeal, and many others), applesauce cake, hamburger stew and pinto beans. Mom was an amazing woman who was the heart of our family; she was the epitome of warmth and kindness. Our Mom will be missed more than mere words can express.
Graveside services will be held Monday, September 17, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the St. George City Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, prior to services, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
