Obituary

Charlene "Sherry" Hart, born on June 9, 1941, in Layton, Utah, to Ruth Estella Crezee and Raymond Benton Dawson, led a life marked by dedication and warmth. She married James (Jim) Henry Hart on July 18, 1960, sharing 62 years of matrimony. Raised in Ogden, Utah, Sherry graduated from Ogden High School in 1959 before relocating to Duarte, California, with her husband.

In Duarte, Sherry embarked on a distinguished career with the Duarte Unified School District, where she was highly regarded for her unwavering commitment and service. Her professional life was characterized by supportive mentorship and the cultivation of lasting friendships, a testament to her infectious personality that extended beyond the workplace.

Upon retirement, Sherry settled in St. George, Utah, relishing time spent with her sister, who was also her closest friend, and family. Her zest for life and spontaneous spirit led her to embrace numerous adventures. Sherry's remarkable talent for crafts allowed her to master various artistic pursuits, leaving behind cherished handmade treasures for loved ones. Later in life, she developed a passion for photography, capturing the majestic beauty of national parks through her lens.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Sherry's granddaughter, Elizabeth Gonzalez, for her compassionate care and unwavering support during Sherry's challenging illness, particularly in her final days.

Sherry is preceded in death by her parents and older brothers: Lawrence Raymond Dawson, Donald Eugene Dawson, and Raymond Dale Harrison. She is survived by her three children: J. D. Hart of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Harold Grant Hart (Jeanne) of Corona, CA; and Anita Marie DeLoney (Eric) of Vallejo, CA. Additionally, she leaves behind five grandchildren: Elizabeth, Joshua, Taylor, Ashley, Erin and multiple great grandchildren, as well as her sister, Carolyn Wilson (Rayburn) of Washington, UT.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Tonaquint Cemetery. 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Monday, prior to services, at 12 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary located at 288 West St. George Blvd.
