Leeds, UT - Charlotte Young Weight, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2010 at her home in Leeds, UT. She was born September 16, 1928 in Salt Lake City, UT to Murray and Charlotte Burton Young. Charlotte grew up in Pasadena , CA where she attended Pasadena City college. She worked as a secretary and served a Stake Mission in the Pasadena Stake. While there she met another missionary, Robert Weight. After hearing his testimony many times she made a decision to say yes when he proposed. They were married for time and all eternity in the Manti temple on November 10, 1950. Charlotte loved to play the piano and served as ward organist in Pico Rivera, CA while her husband was bishop. She also played the organ in the Provo and St. George temples. She served as Stake Relief Society President in Whittier, CA and later filled a full time mission on Temple Square with her husband 1983-1985. While her four daughters were young, she served as Girl Scout leader for 10 years. She created many beautiful paper collage, pieced quilts, and framed fabric art pieces for her children and grandchildren. In her later years she mailed a monthly grandchildren letter treasured by all. Charlotte is survived by her husband Robert; siblings: Marie Lokken of Yuma, AZ and Murray Young of Pasadena, CA; six children: Ellen Robinson (LaMar), Bryan (Charlotte Hall), Willis (Stephanie Wheeler), Marian Davis (Brian), Renae Mackley (Reo) and Beverly Smith (Jeff); 35 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Leeds LDS Chapel, 75 North Main St., Leeds, Utah. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, March 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
