IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cheri Lee
Gubler
December 26, 1955 – July 30, 2025
Cheri Lee Gubler, beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2025, at the age of 69.
Cheri was born on December 26, 1955, to Shirl and Joy Neilson in North Hollywood, California. In her youth, she grew up in the San Fernando Valley area and attended St. Paul's First Lutheran Parochial School before attending North Hollywood High. Cheri's family endured some rough times in her youth. Her Brother Rod was killed by a drunk driver, and her dad suffered a tragic accident while working at his service station. He was pinned between two cars which resulted in the loss of a leg. At the age of 16, Cheri moved with her sister to Provo, Utah, when she graduated from Provo High School, and then attended some pre-nursing college classes. Cheri followed in her mother's footstep and graduated from Cosmetology school.
Cheri moved to St. George, Utah where she helped her parents manage a local convenience store that they owned. In her younger years, Cheri enjoyed helping her dad at his large automotive service station in downtown Los Angeles.
She was a great seamstress and made costumes for Joker Joker, a local costume store, and made costumes for her three children for Halloween and other occasions. She loved to snow ski and ride 4-wheelers, as well as other activities. Cheri was the manager of the St. George Little League program for a number of years which consisted of up to 19 teams.
Cheri loved attending Broadway shows while she and Scott attended pharmaceutical conventions in New York City, which they did for over 10 years. Cheri was a great hostess and enjoyed entertaining.
Cheri was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in her teenage years, which was a source of pain and disfigurement over the years. She pursued all the latest medical treatments available which slowed down the disease but could not stop its progression. She endured the disease in a heroic manner. The last few years have mostly been spent in bed with her dogs by her side. They gave her a great deal of comfort.
She enjoyed traveling before her Rheumatoid Arthritis made it impossible. After her Arthritis limited most of her physical activities, she loved driving her single person side-by-side. Even with her limited physical abilities, she was fearless in her side-by-side, which caused her husband a lot of anxiety.
Cheri was unable to attend Church in her later years because she was severely immune compromised, but she had a strong testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before the limitation of her illness, she was a Sunday school teacher, primary teacher and young women's president. She was a strong believer in tithing. Cheri loved her family and was especially sad because April and Cherise (Sam) lived so far away, and she was unable to visit.
Cheri is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Joy Neilson; her father, Shirl Neilson; and her older brothers: Bruce and Rodney Neilson. She is survived by her husband, Scott; three children: April (Noah) Springer of Draper, Utah; Cherise (Sam) Snow of Seattle, Washington; and Rodney Gubler of St. George, Utah; sister, Lori (Dan) of Draper, Utah; and grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on, Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 am, with a viewing prior from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Green Valley Third Ward, 1282 West 500 South Circle (Meetinghouse on Indian Hills Drive), St. George, Utah 84770.
