Cherrie Stirling Hinton St. George, UT - Cherrie Stirling Hinton, 77, passed away on January 13, 2010 after a long, full life. She was born October 31, 1932 in Hurricane, Utah to Rex and Thelma Stirling (Workman). She was married to Olin Waddoups Hinton on November 25, 1950 in Hurricane, Utah, later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Cherrie was an educated woman. She returned to school to earn a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Special Education from UNLV. She embarked on a career where she was a beloved elementary teacher for 18 years. Upon retirement she was recognized as the Clark County Elementary Class Room Teacher of the Year. Cherrie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings at the Ward and Stake levels while living in Henderson, Nevada. She was a wonderful wife and mother to three boys that she raised in Henderson. She was the dear grandma to eight grandchildren and one great-grandson whom she cherished greatly. Cherrie was a selfless woman, always putting the needs of her family ahead of her own. Her greatest joy was to see her sons and grandchildren happy. She was full of life and possessed a quick wit that made everyone smile. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved and knew her. She is survived by her loving husband: Olin Waddoups Hinton (Hurricane, UT); children: Lynn Stirling Hinton (Colorado Springs, CO), Craig (Jennie) Olin Hinton (South Jordan, UT), Scott Hinton (North Las Vegas, NV); grandchildren: Derek Hinton, Ryan Hinton, Nicole (Steve) Jones, Jeffrey Hinton, Bradley Hinton, Natalie Hinton, Zachary Hinton, Samantha Hinton; great-grandson: Grayson Jones; siblings: Jackie Pulsipher, Tom (Fawn) Stirling, Sue (Clayton) Olds, Darlene Wilder. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 North Main, Hurricane, UT. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
