Chester Arthur Cox Cane Beds, Arizona-- Chester Arthur Cox, age 91, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah. He was born June 7, 1920 in Snowflake, Arizona, the oldest son of Charles Chester Cox and Retta Stock. He married Eliza Juanita Sullivan on January 4, 1955 in Cedar City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on April 11, 1955. Chester grew up on the family ranch in Cane Beds, Arizona and resided there all his life. He and Juanita were the parents of twelve children. Chester loved to be outdoors. In his younger days he herded sheep and worked as a cowboy. Later, he drilled wells, drove heavy equipment and was a carpenter and welder. He worked hard to support his family. Chester loved his wife, children, the land and growing things. He loved to grow vegetables, grape vines and fruit trees. He was hard working and generous to others. Chester is survived by his children Eliza (JD) Ferrin of St. Helens, OR; Margaret (Bill)Fonseca- Geraghty of Cane Beds, AZ; Retta (William) Coughanour of Fredonia, AZ; Charles (Carol) Cox of Florence, AZ; Lucy (Brian) Shearer of Enoch, UT; Marion (Susan) Cox of Hurricane, UT; James (Terri) Cox of Leeds, UT; Royce (Deanna) Cox of Hurricane, UT; Andrew (Cami) Cox of St. George, UT; Darwin (Desi) Cox of Vernal, UT; and Conway (Christina) Cox of Cane Beds, AZ, 37 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sisters Rita (Boots) Cox, Melva (George) Spencer, Geneva (Byron) Tanner and brother Norris (Kaylene) Cox. He was preceded in death by his wife Eliza Juanita Sullivan Cox, parents Charles and Retta Stock Cox, daughter Martha Jane Cox, daughter-in-law Myrna Wilcox Cox, two granddaughters and a grandson, brothers Wayne (Marie) Cox, Grant Cox and sisters Lee (Larry) Keegan, Velda (Delmar) Lang, and Zella (Ed) O'Brien. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Zion's Way Hospice and Dixie Regional Medical Center for their kind and caring assistance. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, prior to services, from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. both at Metcalf Mortuary.
