Obituary

After spending the past five and a half years of her life as a quadriplegic, Christie Lyn Jackson Cox, left her bodily limitations behind and returned to her heavenly home on Monday, February 6, 2023.

She was born to Doug and Becky Jackson on August 17, 1982. As the firstborn, she willingly took on responsibilities to care for her younger siblings, Bob and Katie, and loved them dearly. She grew up in Utah and Colorado. As a child, she loved exploring nature, visiting national parks and camping with her family. The mountains were among her favorite things.

Christie graduated from Payson High in 2000 and attended Southern Utah University and Dixie State University. She was a good student, loved books and was an avid reader.

She loved musical theater and was heavily involved in all of its aspects – acting, singing, costuming, stage crew and painting sets at Payson High School, Southern Utah University and the St. George Musical Theater. It was while painting sets for The Scarlet Pimpernel that she met the love of her life, Nicholas Cox. They were married on June 4, 2010. He was her rock and an amazing support and caregiver through her paralysis. The family is extremely grateful for all who assisted in her care.

Christie's favorite job was being a nanny. They were her kids and she loved them as if they were her own. She loved all things creative including organizing, painting, cooking and traveling.

Her love, courage, and sage advice will be sorely missed by those remaining behind: parents, Doug and Becky Jackson; sister, Katie Jackson; brother, Robert (Jessica) Jackson; and her beloved nieces and nephews: Austin, Shelby, Bailey and Robert.

A small celebration of her life will be held for her family on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.
