St. George, UT - Christine Evans, 64, passed away November 6, 2009 in Santa Clara, UT. Chris was born on December 24, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mabel Wilson Evans and Oakley Spencer Evans. Chris was raised in Darien, Connecticut graduating in 1963 from Darien High School. She did her undergraduate studies at Bennett College and University of California at Santa Barbara. She obtained her Masters Degree in Education for Disadvantaged Children at New York University. She taught school in the South Bronx of New York City until 1972 when she moved to Derby Line, Vermont and opened her first design show room called "By Design." In 1974 Chris moved to Santa Barbara, California with her two year old son Adam. From that time on she focused on developing a successful design business. In 1986 they moved to Houston, Texas for a short time, but long enough for she and Adam to establish many meaningful friendships before her final move to St George in 1988. She was involved in the design and construction of many beautiful homes in the St. George area, loving her work and spending most of her time growing her business. She was Entrepreneur of the Year in 1997 with her business now called 2 Design. Also in 1995 she won the Citizens Downtown Beautification Award for her extensive renovation of the 1873 Bishop's Storehouse. Her creative design work was demonstrated for several years running in the Annual Parade of Homes. In addition Chris was extremely active in several local community organizations in the support of the St. George area. She is survived by her son Adam Evans, wife Kirsten Sweeney Evans and children Sophie Mabel Evans and Max David Evans of Rogers, Arkansas. This family was the joy of her life and how she spent her little free time but any free time that she had. Chris is also survived by her sisters Antoinette Clark and husband John R. Clark, Wendy Melissa Ruppel and husband John R. Ruppel, Julie E. Simons, husband Stephen C. Simons, and sister Elizabeth Dinny Evans and a long lineage of nieces and nephews. A service celebrating Chris Evans will be held on Saturday, November 14th at 1 pm at the Clubhouse at Entrada at Snow Canyon, 2537 West Entrada Trail, St. George, Utah.
