Christine "Chris" Fowler

May 30, 1947 — May 27, 2026

Christine “Chris” Fowler, beloved wife, mother, grandma, “Mimi”, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, in St. George, Utah, following a long and courageous battle with pulmonary and cardiac illness. She was 78 years old, passing just three days before her 79th birthday.

Chris was born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Stan and Julia Byington and was the oldest of five children: Chris, David, Teressa, Ellice, and Pam. She grew up in Pocatello and was a proud member of only the second graduating class of Highland High School. With her sparkling personality, she was a natural performer and shined in her local dance and pep club. Throughout her life, she maintained treasured friendships from both Highland and Pocatello High School, remaining connected to many lifelong friends over the years.

Chris married Brent Fowler, the love of her life, in what he likes to tease family as in the “Elko Temple”- when in fact they eloped on April 13, 1968. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in hard work, adventure, family, and fun.

Chris and Brent were true partners in every sense of the word. Whether living in Pocatello, Victor, Idaho, or Salt Lake City, Utah, they worked tirelessly to build businesses and create opportunities for their family. Chris held many roles throughout her life, including working in banking, co-owning The Emporium in Victor, Idaho, operating a floral shop in Holladay, Utah, and helping found the family transportation logistics company, that enabled the couple to travel world-wide.

But as hard as the Fowlers worked, they loved to play just as much. Life with Chris was fun, full, beautiful, and never ordinary.

Chris had a gift for making everything around her special. She loved gardening, flowers, animals, entertaining, decorating, and hosting gatherings for every occasion. She delighted in trying new recipes, creating welcoming spaces, and making holidays magical for those she loved.

Always stylish and impeccably put together, Chris enjoyed fashion and was a familiar face at Nordstrom, Dillard’s, and Chico’s. She possessed a rare eye for beauty and design. Whether she was decorating one of the many homes she and Brent lovingly restored in the Holladay area, preparing an elegant dinner, choosing the perfect outfit, or wrapping Christmas gifts with extraordinary care, everything Chris touched reflected warmth, beauty, and intention.

Of all the roles she cherished, being a grandmother was among her favorites. Chris adored her grandchildren and made sure they always felt loved, celebrated, and supported. She encouraged their talents, championed their hobbies, and together, she and Brent were undoubtedly their biggest fans.

In 2023, Brent and Chris moved to St. George, Utah, seeking relief from the elevation as Chris’ pulmonary condition became increasingly complex. In true Fowler fashion, they found the “best deal” on the block and transformed their new home into a little piece of heaven on earth.

Chris is survived by her devoted husband, Brent Fowler; her sons, Rick Curtis (children Charlie and Jak Curtis) and Jason Fowler (wife Maura Fowler and children Maggie and Lucy Fowler); her sisters Teressa Carroll, Ellice Rezaii, and Pam Draper, Mary Byington; and sisters-in-law Heather Tuck and Barb Fowler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stan and Julia Byington, her brother David Byington, and brother-in-law Hal Fowler.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Codiga, Dr. Rathbun, Chaz Davis, the compassionate medical teams in the Intensive Care and Cardiac Units at St. George Regional Hospital as well as Nurse Annie with the IHC Wound Clinic for their extraordinary care and kindness.

A celebration of Chris’ life will be held on July 25, 2026 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Cottonwood Country Club in Holladay, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter or to the Elders of the Navajo Nation Navajo Relief Fund (NRF) - PWNA in Chris’ honor.
