Washington, Utah - Colleen Harper Greathouse Petty Levy Mickelson passed away peacefully at Dixie Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. She was 86 years old at her passing. Colleen was born October 8, 1925 in Lynndyl, Utah to Jack Harper and Margie Elizabeth Farnsworth. She was raised by Fred Russell Greathouse, her mothers second husband. She was the eldest of ten children in the Greathouse family, and loved her step-father dearly. She loved to see the free shows at the show house while her Dad was the manager there.

Colleen attended grade school in Lynndyl, where she was in a class of eight girls and one boy. She attended high school in Delta, Utah. She loved to swim in the swimming hole along the irrigation ditch, and to play pinochle with her mother and the neighbors.

She met and married her first husband, Ilet Devou Petty, while she was in high school. They were married on February 14, 1942 and moved to Caliente, Nevada where he worked for Union Pacific Railroad. Devou was drafted to serve during WWII, and was killed in New Guinea in 1944. She moved back to Delta and lived with Devous parents while she completed high school.

During this time, she met her second husband, Eldon Grant "Red" Levy. Everyone called him Red because of his red hair. They married in Fillmore, Utah on June 2, 1945. They lived in Delta until the fall, when Red was honorably discharged from the Army. Then they moved to South Dakota where they spent the next 40 years. They loved to see the rodeos, which were in every town. Although Colleen was LDS, they attended the Congregational Church, where Red was a member. Colleen saw the LDS missionaries often though and enjoyed seeing them come running to get melons when she had them available. While in Scenic, S.D., they owned and operated a service station. She pumped gasoline as well as serviced cars and fixed tires. The station became a hangout for some of the locals who would come and challenge her to a game of Cribbage. She was the Champ most of the time. After they moved their house to Rapid City, she learned to upholster to make a little money to pay for bowling. She got so busy upholstering that she had to give up bowling, and continued to run an upholstery business until she moved back to Utah. While they lived in Rapid City, they began to attend the LDS Church. As they attended, Red liked it the more he went, and had set a date to be baptized, but passed away just a day before his baptism was to have been. They were married for nearly 40 wonderful years.

Colleen moved back to Utah in 1989 and began bowling on leagues to meet some people. She met her third husband, Mike Mickelson while bowling a mixed doubles league at Brentwood Bowl. They were married on October 23, 1993. Colleen loved the Senior Games, and won so many medals that she decorated her Christmas tree with them. Colleen never had children, but when she married Mike she became a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in one evening. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and treated each of them as if they were truly her own. They enjoyed a busy, happy 18 years of traveling, bowling and enjoying both families.

Colleen was preceded in death by her sisters, Emma Jean Larsen and Denice Greathouse and her brother, Ronald Greathouse. She is survived by her siblings: La Rae (George) Maxwell, Cheryl (Bill) DeHart, Linda (Mike) Sandston, Russell (Cindy) Greathouse, John (Ann)Greathouse, and Craig (Debbie) Greathouse; her husband, Franklin Michael Mickelson and his nine children, 37 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a great deal of extended family and friends who loved her greatly and will miss her very much.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 11, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington LDS Stake Center, 446 Mangum Road, Washington, Utah. Visitations will be held Sunday evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Monday, prior to services, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Chapel. Burial will be at the Pine View Cemetery in Rapid City, South Dakota. Arrangements are entrusted to Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
