Washington, Utah - Colleen Theobald Jones returned to her Heavenly Father February 10, 2012 after years of battling Alzheimers Disease. She was born June 15, 1930 in Hurricane, Utah to Harvey and Alfreeda Theobald. She was raised in Toquerville, UT where she attended and graduated from Hurricane High School. She then went onto graduate from Dixie Jr. College where she met her husband, Marvin Angus Jones. They were married for time and all eternity February 3, 1951 in the St. George LDS Temple. They have been married for 61 years!
Colleen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served and played the piano in primary and sacrament for many years and various other callings including Relief Society and MIA.
She worked for several summers at Bryce and Zion National Parks and the Grand Canyon. Then as a switchboard operator at Mountain Bell. She retired from Washington County School District after 25 years in 1995 as secretary at East Elementary, where she made many lifelong friends as Mrs. Jones.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Angus Jones; her children: Terri (Kenneth) Lister, Tammy (Brad) Spencer, Leslie Cox and Randy (Juli) Jones; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and brother, Neil Theobald. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Alfreeda Theobald and sister, Jackie.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. George LDS East Stake Center, 300 East 400 South, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Saturday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will follow at the St. George City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
