Obituary

Cedar City, UT - David Paul Bonzo passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 24, 2009. He was born April 16, 1961 in Cedar City, Utah to David K. and Ione Davis Bonzo. He was raised and educated in Cedar City. He attended Cedar City High School, SUU, and Weber State University, where he received his radiology certification. Paul enjoyed scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, he also served an LDS mission in the New York, Rochester Mission. Paul worked as an orderly, EMT and x-ray technician at Valley View Medical Center and spent many years in Las Vegas working for Diagnostic Imaging of Southern Nevada, working with MRIs and nuclear medicine. He served in the Utah National Guard for 15 years, achieving the rank of Captain. He attended Officers Candidate School at Camp Williams and Fort Sill Oklahoma, where he graduated top of his class. He served as B-Battery Commander in St. George and at Headquarters Battery in Cedar City with the 222nd Field Artillery Battalion. He loved spending time with his dad and brothers especially at Bonzo Deer Camp. He also loved fishing and spending time on Cedar Mountain. Paul was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed playing and coaching and especially watching U of U football and professional baseball. One of Pauls most enduring traits was his love of family and spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his parents, David and Ione D. Bonzo of Cedar City; his son, Dayne K. (Cortney) of Ogden, Utah; his daughter, Caitlyn R. Bonzo of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kadyn Buck and Piper Bonzo; his four brothers, Rick K. (Wendy) and Eric N. (Lisa) both of Enoch, Todd C. (Lorie) of St. George and Scott D. Bonzo of Cedar City, Utah. The family wishes to thank the staff of Kolob Regional Care and Rehab. in Cedar City for their compassion and excellent care of Paul. Also, special thanks to Ethan Bunker and Dr. Assiago. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at the Cedar City LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 500 West 400 North, Cedar City, Utah. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the chapel and on Monday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. also at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery where Military Honors will be performed. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
