Dakota J Lamb
It is with broken hearts and immense love, that we announce the passing of Dakota J Lamb, age 19, of Ivins, Utah. He unexpectedly left this world on June 7th, 2026 leaving behind a legacy full of laughter, love, and talent. He is now up in heaven running the stars and shining light down on this world.
Dakota was born on September 8th, 2006 in Saint George, Utah to loving parents Micheal and Kristina Lamb. The youngest of two, Dakota was raised in Ivins, Utah where he grew up playing outside under the red rocks.
In his younger years, Dakota enjoyed going hiking and camping with his family each summer. As he got older, he shared his love for the outdoors with his friends, along with his sense of adventure. Growing up, Dakota had a love for reading and was known for being a bookworm. His love of Harry Potter and fantasy later transitioned to his love of Dungeons and Dragons. His laughter and kindness was one of the things he was most known for. His jokes and making those around him smile, each and every day. He was a true friend to all those around him, always lending a helping hand, and helping those around him.
In seventh grade, Dakota discovered a love for the performing arts. Learning all about the world of plays and musicals, Dakota took a technical theatre class where he learned about lighting and all of the behind the scenes work that goes into these performances. It was during this year that he contributed to the school play of Into The Woods at Lava Ridge Intermediate School. Even at this young age, he was immensely technology savvy, which played a big factor in his world of technical theatre work. He was known for being well organized and a brilliant mind even at a young age.
From that point on, his passion for lighting and technical theatre work continued. In ninth grade, Dakota started school at Utah Arts Academy (UAA). He was part of the first group of freshmen who were the first students to attend UAA, when they first opened. It was at this school that his love for the arts truly took flight. During his time at UAA he helped with many school plays, often staying late hours and dedicating time after school to truly perfecting his art. He helped to install the schools LED board, and was known for calling it his “experimental box”, having spent many of his hours there playing with the lights and watching his passion come to light for others to see. Some of the plays he helped to put on include; Nevermore, Les Miserables, Six, along with many other performances. Dakota, forever dedicated to his work and craft, even ran the lights and soundboard at his own graduation in 2025. Even after graduating, Dakota still continued to be involved with UAA, helping when needed.
At the age of fifteen, Dakota was also widely involved with other community performances. Helping with the lights for GEEZY Fest in 2022 and being part of the Zion Live Events team, he worked with many groups to put on concerts and shows all throughout the Southern Utah area. In 2022, Dakota started working at Tuacahn Amphitheater for their summer Broadway season. Over the last four years, he has been a part of the lighting team up at Tuacahn, helping to create the magic of the shows for all who attend. It was there that he made everlasting friendships with his coworkers. Oftentimes when they weren’t at work, he and his friends would go out on new adventures. They all enjoyed rock climbing, game nights, and many other adventures together. Dakota was known for his kind heart and boundless friendship, creating an atmosphere of laughter and kindness to all those around him.
Dakota enjoyed building and playing with Legos all throughout his childhood and adult years, which later in life contributed to his time at Tuacahn Amphitheater. With a creative mind, Dakota was given many opportunities over the years to grow in his craft of technical theatre work. Some of his positions at Tuacahn include; spotlight operator, lighting board operator, lighting lead for the indoor Hafen Theatre, and most recently deck electrician. His passion for his job was widely known to those around him as well as his knowledge of his craft. Much of his work was self-taught during his earlier years in the technical theatre world. With the help and support of his friends, coworkers, and mentors, Dakota continued to grow and learn many new things throughout his time at Tuacahn Amphitheatre. Over the years, his family and friends have enjoyed seeing his work come together throughout the different concerts and Broadway seasons.
Dakota is survived by his parents Micheal and Kristina Lamb of Ivins, Utah; sister, Shailynn Jane Lamb of Ivins, Utah; grandmothers: Sharon (Weisse) Lamb of Ivins, Utah, Janie (Gunn) Sweat of Rock Springs, Wyoming; uncles and aunts: Dave (Megan) Lamb of New Harmony, Utah, Kevin (Kelli) Lamb of Ivins, Utah, Shannon (Peggie) Sweat of Fruitland, Utah, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as his loyal canine companion, Boots.
