– Dallas Mangum, 79, passed away on December 14, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 22, 1937 in Hurricane, Utah to Clarence and Wanda Duncan Mangum.
He was educated in the "school of life" and accomplished many great things. He was a self-made man and was loved by all who knew him.
Dallas met and married his sweetheart, Judy, in Ely, Nevada and they began a wonderful adventure together that would last 59 years and span across seven western states. Finally making their permanent home in St. George, where they raised their family. They were converted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ together as a young couple and had their marriage solemnized In the St. George LDS Temple.
Dallas influenced the lives of many throughout his years of service as scoutmaster and youth advisor, an influence that continues today.
His talent and love of music touched the lives of many throughout his life and was a source of great pleasure to him and his family, Dallas often volunteered his time entertaining in the service of others. He picked up a guitar when he was a boy of ten and never put it back down again, he taught himself to play and became one of the most accomplished lead guitarists in southern Utah. He was well known throughout the area for his unique style and musical talent.
Dallas felt his greatest accomplishment and happiness was the legacy of a strong and loving family. He is survived by his wife, Judy Ambrose Mangum; children: Teresa (Alec) Rimmasch, Cody (Wendi), Rick, Ken (Terese), David (Becki), Janet (Doug) Froelich, Mike (Jesica) and Debi (Wayne) Francis; 23 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morningside LDS Stake Center, 881 South River Road, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Monday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Pine Valley Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
