IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dallin Kurtis
Kendall
May 10, 1994 – March 6, 2024
Washington, Utah – Dallin Kurtis Kendall, age 29, passed away on March 6, 2024, at St. George Regional Hospital from complications of heart problems and pneumonia. Dallin was born in St. George, UT, at Dixie Regional Medical Center on May 10, 1994, to Kurtis & Sheila Kendall.
Dallin was diagnosed with severe autism at the age of 3. It wasn't until he was 13 years old, after seeing multiple doctors and specialists, we found out and he was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic / neurological condition called Cerebral Folate Transport Deficiency, that slowly took his mobility from him over the years and caused him to be in a wheelchair and/or bed bound for the past 15 years.
Nearly everyone that met Dallin over the years couldn't help but love him. He had such a sweet spirit about him, despite his challenges and sometimes very difficult behaviors and episodes. Even with all his trials, we considered Dallin an exceptional teacher. He taught so many people about unconditional love & patience, particularly his parents and family members.
Dallin began attending school at a young age & attended The Learning Center for children with special needs, Sunset Elementary School, Washington Elementary School, Fossil Ridge Intermediate School, Pineview Middle School, graduated from Pineview High School, and then attended Post-High School until age 22. Dallin loved to go to school, he loved riding the school bus, & even carried a toy school bus around with him for many years & collected toy school buses his entire life. While he was in school, Dallin met many wonderful teachers, paraprofessionals, peer tutors, and friends who helped him throughout his life.
At a very early age, Dallin took a strong interest in anything Disney. He loved all the Disney classic movies, books, music, toys, etc. Dallin acquired quite the Disney collection over the years that he loved and often packed part of it with him everywhere he went. He also loved to be outside and loved jumping on the trampoline (when he was more mobile), getting in any kind of water, and swinging as high as he could go. He loved to go to the mountains, stay in cabins, and loved going to the zoo to see his favorite animals. But his favorite place of all was to be able to go to Disneyland and see his favorite characters. He especially loved Rafiki the baboon from his favorite movie, Walt Disney's The Lion King, that was released about the time he was born.
Dallin loved his family so much! He loved visiting his grandparents, aunts & uncles, (especially Uncle Kerry's/Aunt Amy's & Aunt Kristie's) and any family who had Disney VHS movies that he could look through. Dallin was so loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Dallin is survived by his parents, Kurtis and Sheila Kendall; brothers: Garrett Kendall and Kole Kendall; his Grandma & Grandpa Dalley; and many aunts, uncles, & cousins who love him and will miss him dearly.
A Special Thank You to the many people who worked with, was kind to, or helped Dallin in any way, but especially to: All the Doctors, Therapists, Practitioners, DSPD, his Support Coordinators, Chrysalis Day Program, A Gentle Touch home health (Kay & Tegan), & everyone else that has worked with Dallin. Additionally, we want to give a special Thanks to all those who helped with Dallin's apartment including Random Acts, Heart to Homes, All the help & contributions by family members, friends (Julie, Wendy, Dallin's Aunts / Uncles), neighbors, and so many people that interacted or helped Dallin live a better life in a positive way (many of whom we don't know). Finally, we want to thank the doctors, nurses, tech's, family members, and aides at St. George Hospital that helped Dallin in his final weeks & days. To Anyone else that we may have missed that helped Dallin and our family - We Want You to Know that We Love and Appreciate YOU ALL More Than You will ever know!!
