St. George, Utah – Daniel Ray Acosta, 27, passed away October 3, 2021, after a losing battle with addiction. He was born in Downey, California on September 25, 1994, to Tondalaya Salway and Erik Herrera. At the age of two, Daniel moved to Enterprise, Utah to live with his grandmother, Bonnie Joines whom raised Daniel and his brother, Eli Carmona and sister, Ebony Ferreira.

Daniel graduated from Enterprise High School where he excelled at football and wrestling. Coach Jones, from Enterprise High School, was a good friend and mentor, encouraging Daniel throughout his life.

Daniel was a reluctant father who grew into an amazing dad to Axton, Alix, and Rylee.

Daniel spent the last four years of his life working hard at self-improvement and building a life with his loving girlfriend, Katie Pledger and their daughter, Rylee. Daniel loved to work out and practice Jiu Jitsu. His dream was to become an MMA Fighter and own his own business.

Daniel was a kind and thoughtful man who helped those in need. He had a goofy side and funny sense of humor and made those around him laugh and smile.

Daniel is survived by his girlfriend, Katie; children: Axton, Alix and Rylee; five sisters including Ebony Ferreira, who was living with Daniel at the time of his death; brothers: Eli Carmona and Jake Runsbuffalo; grandmothers: Bonnie Joines and Linda Hererra; grandfather, Luis Herrera; mother, Tondalaya Salway; father, Erik Herrera; as well as many friends and brothers in recovery.
