Darleen Stewart Noorlander August 24, 1924 - October 27, 2011 Grand Junction, CO - Darleen Stewart Noorlander, 87, (formerly of Ivins, UT) passed away after a brief illness on October 27, 2011 in Grand Junction, CO. She was born August 24, 1924 in Buena Vista, UT to George Franklin Stewart and Ora Ellen Anderson. Darleens childhood was spent in the Salt Lake City area and later in the Los Angeles area. In 1949 she married Gene Heit, becoming a blended family with his children Gary and Don, along with her daughter, Leslie, from a previous marriage. To that union were added sons, Glen and Dale, and daughter, Laura. They later divorced. In 1991 she married and was sealed to James Noorlander in the LDS St. George Temple. Darleen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grand Junction, Colorado 2nd Ward. She was a bookkeeper for most of her life, but her greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful mother to all her children. Darleen was kind, loving, and patient. Throughout her life, she enjoyed crocheting, traveling, playing pinochle with friends, watching Hallmark movies, and spending time with family. Darleen is survived by her sons: Gary Heit of Australia; Don Heit of Houston, TX; Dale (Jolene) Heit of Cedar City, UT; daughter Laura (Glade) Johnson of Grand Junction, CO; daughter-in-law Debbie Heit of Norwalk, CA; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Noorlander; children: Leslie and Glen Heit; brothers, Oral, Wayne, Don and Ross Stewart. A graveside celebration of her life will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Hurricane, UT at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
